Hi! My name is Julia Roell and I grew up in Batesville, Indiana, a small town in southeastern Indiana. I graduated from Batesville High School in 2012. I am currently a student at DePauw University and will graduate from there in 2016. I am pursuing a B.A. in Biochemistry and Biology and a minor in Spanish. I plan to attend medical school to pursue a career that combines pediatrics and global health work. My interests include travelling, binge-watching marathons of tv shows, and hiking.
Last year, I had a research experience in DePauw’s biology department that sparked my interest in pursuing another summer in research. With recommendation of my friend Alicia Erwin, I contacted the Dann lab and asked for consideration of a summer undergraduate research position. I am so happy and grateful to be able to have the opportunity to work in a research lab at a large university, and hope that this experience will prepare me for my future in the years ahead. In the Dann Lab, I assist Mirage Singh Ph.D. in his structural studies of human folate receptors.
