Hello, my name is Jackson Fessenden. I am an undergraduate from Kokomo, Indiana planning to graduate in 2016. I am pursuing a B.S. degree in Biochemistry. After I graduate from IU, I want to go to graduate school to continue doing research. After that, who knows what I’ll do in the vast field of science.
Besides studying science and doing research, I enjoy listening to a variety of music and playing piano. I also spend a lot of time playing sports, cycling, mountain biking, camping, and pretty much anything outdoors. A lot of these activities I do with other members of the lab, which is awesome.
In the Dann lab, I work with Guangming Chen in the quest to crystallize tyrosylprotein sulfotransferase (TPST), an enzyme used in the tyrosine sulfation reaction. Knowing the structure and mechanism of this reaction will help to predict and identify target substrates.
